What is Cyber Security

Cybersecurity refers to any technology, measure or practice for preventing cyberattacks or mitigating their impact. Cybersecurity aims to protect individuals’ and organizations’ systems, applications, computing devices, sensitive data and financial assets against computer viruses, sophisticated and costly ransomware attacks, and more.

According to a recent government report, the number of cyber-attacks on businesses in South Africa increased by 76% in 2023 increasing demand for specialists in the industry by over 300% year on year (Business live 2023)

A recent (ISC) Cybersecurity Workforce Study revealed a cybersecurity skills gap of as many as 3.4 million professionals worldwide, while the 2022 JCSE- IITPSA ICT Skills Survey also highlighted significant skills shortages faced by employers in the information security/cybersecurity field.
